Bail Support
Bail Support is a free, non-electronic community safety program. It helps individuals stay in the community while complying with bail conditions and reduces reoffending. The program connects eligible individuals with the support they need, ensuring they meet their court-ordered conditions. Legal counsel submits applications for Bail Support to the court and Community Corrections, who assess whether the individual can safely remain in the community with the right support.
We aim to assist individuals in making positive changes during their time in the criminal justice system. By offering tailored community-based support, we help individuals meet their bail conditions and reduce the risk of reoffending. This service benefits both individuals and their communities. Defendants can access the program through the court, prison, or community to maintain compliance until their next court appearance.
Referrals can be made through a Bail Support Officer, who can be contacted via the local Community Probation Office or by reaching out to He Korowai Trust directly. The officer works with legal counsel to assess eligibility and arrange the necessary support.
The service is completely free for eligible individuals. We believe everyone should have access to support without financial barriers. This initiative helps individuals remain in the community, comply with their court conditions, and reduce reoffending.
